Monte Carlo is an especially famous part of the Principality of Monaco and one of its administrative divisions (district or neighborhood), known for its casino, gambling, glamor and the chance to see famous people. On many occasions it is thought that Monte Carlo is the capital of Monaco, but since the city and the country have the same borders, Monaco is its own capital. Monte Carlo hosts a part of the Monaco Circuit, where the Monaco Grand Prix of Formula One takes place, usually after Easter, and one of the most important World Rally events: the Monte Carlo Rally.
It has also been the seat since 1952 of the “Reinsurers Rendez-Vous”, the oldest and most famous annual meeting of the reinsurance industry that takes place in the first week of September. Monte Carlo for decades is a meeting place for members of royalty, as well as great movie stars.
