The National Museum of Natural History of France (in French: Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle)? It is a public institution of French scientific research. Its main functions are the conservation of scientific collections, scientific research, higher education and the dissemination of scientific culture in the specialties of the institution: Natural History. The Evolution Gallery is one of the most visited exhibition halls in Paris.

After being closed for more than 30 years, the renovation of the Galerie becomes one of the great projects of the State. The architects Paul Chemetov and Borja Huidobro associated with the set designer René Allio and the museum architect Roberto Benavente won the international competition organized by the Ministry of National Education. The theme of evolution was chosen for the main exhibition. The renovation works were carried out between 1991 and 1994 and the cost of this work was raised to 400 million francs.
